London Yorkshire rail investment

Just reading about improved rail services to London planned for Yorkshire. I’m just wondering if that will make London even more the centre if the universe?

Already many people in Ilkley are in fact based in London and commute. Perhaps cutting links to London would be an interesting idea? A bit like island ecologies in which new species and environments evolve; Much more creative.

I can see that there may be a benefit in having control from London (managers commuting from Ilkley) and a cheap workforce based out in the regions (like Indian call centres).

I think on balance id like to see more stuff going on in Yorkshire that is unique and independent of London. I suppose if there’s a good rail service I will be able to visit exhibitions and shows without them needing to come to Yorkshire.
