I’m pleased to say that as of today ITV Local Yorkshire has officially launched to the public. The Calendar News team in Leeds has been fantastically supportive and are now promoting the service on air – including a package to go out on this evening’s show.
If you don’t know what ITV Local is, I would encourage you to have a look. The service is open to development right now and so we are keen to enter into what ITV calls "Partnerships with the public" – this sounds very BBC, but for once I think ITV may have opened the gates to something which could pip them to the post in regard to community facing television.
The Leeds team has a lot of freedom to develop the site in ways that reflect our communities. I happen to believe that material exploring aspects of faith in the region could be very strong – we have an Archbishop in the region and very lively Muslim and other communities. There are alternative worship groups like Host and Visions forging new ground so let’s see where we can go.
If you are a local film maker or community group interested in entering into a media partnership please let me know. It is likely that we will be significantly involved in the Leeds International Film Festival and we are already making contact with filmaking outfits like Inspired Youth in York.
e.mail me or the team directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think we could collaborate in any way
